Mental Health

Global research have shown that childhood mental problems and disorders are likely to continue at a significant rate up to 50%; unless these children receive appropriate mental care and services to reduce their future impacts on the social and professional aspects.

The "Mental Health" Initiative is the first of its kind in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia specialized in the child mental health care field; as it offers a two-year diploma for psychiatrists on the job to be qualified and capable of dealing with mental disorders in children, and it aims to provide attention and mental health care for children since their early childhood; in order to contribute in promoting healthy youth and generation in all aspects of life.

Al-Muhaidib Social Foundation participated in the Child Mental Health Care Initiative; because we are concerned about providing care for the children in all their social, educational and health aspects; and because mental health is not only classified as a need in our nation, but also constitutes the greatest disease burden in the world and comes second after the cardiovascular diseases.

The Initiative is being attended by the Suleiman Saleh Olayan Foundation; the Al-Muhaidib Social Foundation; Dr. Lamees Suleiman Al-Sulaim; the Al Faisal University, and those who signed a cooperation agreement to promote joint action through the establishment of this academic training program in early 2020.

Initiative Objectives:

* Consolidate the joint cooperation values between the national institutions; in order to enhance the social services sustainability efforts.

* Reduce the acute shortage in the child mental health services providers in Saudi Arabia.

* Reduce the impacts of the future child mental disorders on the social and professional levels.
